The Sunday Food Festival / Family Fun Day 19th September open from 11am - 5:30pm
For many people, the climax of the Taste of West Cork food festival is the great open-air market / festival / fun-day - which takes place on the Sunday at the end of the food festival week - 19th September 2010.
For one day only, the Fairfield in the centre of Skibbereen is taken over by a host of stalls and marquees, showcasing the very best of local food and crafts, including a special section featuring the regular traders from the Skibbereen Farmers’ Market.
This year, we have a dedicated CHILDREN’S AREA, with dance, arts and drama works, bouncy castles and make and do. On the day, we invite children to bring their unusually shaped garden vegetables to enter into a competition for the “WONKY VEGETABLE” prize. Also THE ORCHARD - help create beautiful fruit trees during the day {bare trees will be set up and over the course of the day the children will make fruit/ flowers/ bees/ butterflies which will hang from the trees}
Eleanor Calnan will also do a crochet demonstration representing the West Cork Guild of the I.C.A.
There will be live music and St. Fachtna’s Silver Band is also in attendance.
There will be a harvest service for all denominations, with an African Gospel choir to entertain the visitors.
Cookery demonstrations by local and celebrity chefs, and a host of free food tastings add to the atmosphere - and a great day out is assured for the whole family.
