FAIRY LEGENDS AND TRADITIONS OF WEST CORK

Killeena House, Baltimore Road/ €15 (includes tea and homemade cake)/7pm /Booking essential/numbers limited (not suitable for children)

Ireland is a land of folklore, legends and tradition - in 1825 Thomas Crofton Croker published his collection of Irish fairytales:  Fairy Legends and Traditions of the South of Ireland, which included a number of eerie tales from local places such as Ballydehob and Hungry Hill.  This talk, presented by  the popular West Cork College founders Dr. Bernie McCarthy and Dr Emma Bidwell, will give you a rare opportunity to hear these tales together with an entertaining analysis of what they mean in historical and cultural terms.  Given the year that it is, you shall even learn how these tales relate to the 1916 Easter Rising!
