St Patricks National School, Skibbereen 11AM | FREE | 089 4352675
Incredible Edible founder Mary Clear will be giving a not-tobe-missed talk at St. Patrick’s National School, Skibbereen. The hugely successful Incredible Edible movement, founded in Todmorden in England, planted the town with edible plants using whatever space was available. Mary will discuss her experience of implementing this wonderful project, and how it could take off across West Cork. Already supported by the West Cork Garden Trail, Cork County Council and the Harold Barry Trust, with community participation ‘Incredible Edible’ has the potential to transform West Cork towns and villages. From offices and shops planting hanging baskets with strawberries to planting roundabouts with herbs – there is a way for everyone to be involved - and to have a lot of fun along the way. There will also be a tour around the school’s impressive and award -winning new garden. Visit the Geodome, willow tunnel, amphitheatre, raised beds, wormery, composting area, insect hotel, observation areas of orchards, mixed native hedge, mini forest and a wild nature trail. Well worth a visit.
