A Taste of West Cork is Ireland’s longest running food festival and is the best opportunity hundreds of local producers have to get in front of people who are passionate about food.
Celtic Cook Off

Date: Wednesday 11th September 2013
Venue: West Cork Hotel
Contact: 028 21277
A light-hearted atmosphere that does not lose sight of the basic principles of the event and of the Taste of West Cork Festival, the event shall again be hosted by John McKenna, who as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, will talk to the Chefs regarding cooking methods, ingredients and techniques, and interact with the audience and judges.
The Celtic Cook-off competition: World renowned chefs compete, using great West Cork food.
There is, without doubt, a strong connection between the Celtic nations of Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Isle of Man, Cornwall, Brittany and Galicia (Spain) demonstrated though a sense of kinship, music, language, poetry and food.
We feel a sense of sharing and understanding - speaking a common language!
Who better to appreciate the produce of West Cork and show it off at its best, than the finest chefs of the Celtic nations, who gather annually in Skibbereen to compete with and outdo each other in cooking up a storm. Participating Celtic chefs have included Roy Brett, Butch Buttery, Martin Shanahan and Rick Stein amongst others. Guest of honour in 2012 was Tim Anderson, winner of Masterchef 2011 (UK).
This wonderful annual event aims to strengthen our links with our Celtic colleagues and to develop a cutting edge food network and forum for exchange of ideas and produce. It provides an educational platform for the support and development of our young chefs.
Tickets for this event sell like hot cakes so get your bookings in early.
A special package can be purchased to include accommodation at the West Cork Hotel see www.westcorkhotel.com
